About Bamboo Fabrics: Properties, Sustainability and Comfort

Bamboo is very durable, has a high wearing comfort and a nice appearance. This is a real asset for the clothing industry.

BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Bamboo thrives naturally without the use of any pesticides or fertilizers.
  • Bamboo fibre is 100% biodegradable.
  • Bamboo is the fastest growing grass species in the world. It spreads rapidly over large areas without any human help - unlike natural fabrics madre from wood fibers. The growth of trees takes a long time.
  • As a grass, bamboo is cut, not uprooted, so the soil stays stable and bamboo prevents erosion.
  • Bamboo grows on hill slopes where nothing else is viable.
  • The yield (i.e. the of product) you get from one hectare of bamboo is 10 times greater than the yield obtainable from Cotton. In an age where land use is under enormous pressure this is huge.
  • Bamboo has a small water requirement. The rainwater that falls is generally sufficient. This, too, is in contrast to cotton or synthetic fibers, whose water requirement is many time greater.

BETTER WEARING COMFORT

The wearing comfort of bamboo fabric is very pleasant and the fabric feels wonderfully soft.

  • Fabrics made from bamboo fibers absorb and evaporate moisture and have antibacterial properties. Ideal for sports and casual wear.
  • You can wear bamboo fabric in any season. In the winter it keeps you warm and in the summer it is nice and airy.
  • The substance has antistatic properties.
  • Bamboo fabric does not shrink, hardly creases and can be washed at a low temperature.
  • Bamboo fabrics are a good alternative for tencel, viscose, modal and cotton tricots or plains.
